🛡️ The Cape-Down Creed: Our Collective Manifesto for Healing, Power, and Petty Peace

This ain’t your average blog post—this is a declaration. The Cape-Down Creed is a bold, unapologetic rally cry for Black women who are done being everything for everybody. We're reclaiming our time, our peace, and our power—line by line. It's giving sass, it's giving truth, and it's giving "we not doing this no more." Read it. Feel it. Live it.

Yes, peace... but with boundaries and a lil’ bounce to it.

💜 Introduction

Sis… we see you. We are you.
You're out here doing the most with the least—leading Zoom calls, baking for the baby shower, organizing the family reunion, all while trying to hold your edges and your emotions together.

You’ve been “strong” so long it became your default setting. But guess what?

We’re flipping the switch.
This is your official permission slip to opt out of the chaos and opt into yourself.

Welcome to the Cape-Down Creed—because saving the world is cute, but saving yourself is sacred. Let’s go line by line.

💬 “We, Black Women, refuse to be the mules of the world any longer.”

Not in the year of our Lord 2025.
Not in Big Twenty Twenty-FIVE, where folks still have the audacity to expect us to do 3 people’s jobs and smile about it.

We are not your therapy, your HR department, or your spiritual life coach just because we "seem grounded."

🗣️ We said what we said. And we meant it—in flats, heels, or house shoes.

💬 “We will not light ourselves on fire to keep others warm.”

Why should we keep burning while folks cozy up around us like it’s a bonfire?

If you want warmth, baby, go find a blanket.

🔥 Self-sacrifice is out, self-preservation is in.
And we’re keeping the matches to ourselves this season.

💬 “We will no longer say ‘yes’ when our spirit is saying ‘no.’”

If my soul is whispering “NOPE” and my ancestors are raising eyebrows from the other side, I’m not overriding that for your comfort.

Your emergency is not my assignment.
And guess what? I don't even feel bad anymore.

💬 “We are worthy of love, joy, softness, boundaries, and becoming.”

Softness, sis. Like silk pillowcase, freshly steamed greens, Anita Baker type softness.
And we don’t need to earn it. We wake up worthy—even with a bonnet, chipped nail polish, and unreturned texts.

🫶🏽 Boundaries are not walls—they’re velvet ropes. And this energy? VIP only.

💬 “This is our sacred pause. Our collective breath.”

If rest is rebellion, then baby—we’re organizing a whole movement in our pajamas.

Because nothing hits like a nap with your phone on Do Not Disturb and your energy protected by the ancestors.

We’re not lazy. We’re legendary—and we’re doing it in peace, satin-lined and soul-deep.

💬 “This is The Cape-Down Creed.”

Say it with your chest… and your soul:
“I am no longer volunteering for burnout.”

This ain’t just a vibe. It’s a movement. A ministry. A message.
Drop the cape, sis. You don’t need it anymore.

🧂 Petty Pause (Now With Extra Hot Sauce):

We are not your mules. We are not your emergency contact. Not your therapist. Not your motivational speaker when your life’s in shambles. And definitely not your backup plan. In Big 2025? We reclaiming time, edges, and boundaries—periodt!!!!
